Denton, Texas — Families interested in learning more about 4-H are invited to attend the Denton County 4-H Open House on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Denton County Administrative Courthouse, 1 Courthouse Drive, Denton, TX 76208.

The Open House is designed for youth and families who are interested in joining 4-H or simply want to learn more about the opportunities available through the program. Visitors will have the chance to meet current 4-H members, volunteers, and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension staff while exploring local clubs, projects, contests, camps, leadership opportunities, and community service programs.

This year's 4-H theme, "Passport to Discovery," celebrates the many experiences available through 4-H. Throughout the evening, current 4-H members will host informational booths showcasing their clubs and project areas, giving prospective members and their families the opportunity to ask questions and discover where their interests fit within the program.

Current 4-H members will once again serve as hosts at this year's Open House on Sunday, August 23, helping new families discover the many clubs, projects, and experiences that Denton County 4-H has to offer.

While many people associate 4-H with agriculture and livestock, the program offers much more. Members can participate in projects such as photography, robotics, cooking, gardening, shooting sports, public speaking, fashion, natural resources, healthy living, leadership, community service, and many others.
 
"4-H is truly a program where every young person can find something they're passionate about," said Steven Baringer, Denton County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development. "Our Open House is a great opportunity for families to explore the different clubs and projects available in Denton County, meet our volunteers and members, and see firsthand how 4-H helps young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, and discover new interests."

The event is free and open to the public. Youth entering 3rd grade through age 18 are eligible to enroll in 4-H, while children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade can participate in the Clover Kids program.
