Grayson County, Texas -- Grayson College has announced the expansion of its Agricultural Sciences program with the addition of a new workforce and career-focused pathway designed to meet the needs of nontraditional students, working adults, and aspiring agricultural entrepreneurs.

The college will continue to offer its Associate of Science (AS) in Agricultural Sciences, a 60-credit-hour transfer degree intended for students planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree. The AS pathway provides a strong academic foundation in agricultural science, and includes an articulation agreement with East Texas A&M University, allowing for a seamless transition into
a four-year program.

The newly introduced Associates of Applied Science (AAS) in Agribusiness Management pathway focuses on practical, flexible training and includes stackable certificates that allow students to enter the workforce quickly or progress toward advanced certifications and degrees.

Coursework is primarily online and incorporates hands-on practicum and internship opportunities.

The stackable certificates are as follows:

Occupational Skills Award in Small-Scale Agriculture: a 16-credit-hour program that can be completed in one to two semesters. With no core classes or TSI requirements, students gain foundational knowledge in plants, animals, and agribusiness.

Level 1 Agribusiness Certificate: a 30-credit hour program offered fully online, focuses on how agricultural businesses operate and prepares students for careers in farm and ranch supply, agricultural services, government agencies, and related industries. No core classes or TSI
requirements.

Level 1 Agricultural Entrepreneurship Certificate: a 30-credit hour program offered in a hybrid format, is designed for individuals interested in starting or expanding their own agricultural operations, with coursework emphasizing small farm management and business practices.

Level 2 Certificate in Agricultural Technologies: a 45-credit hour program provides deeper knowledge in agriculture-focused industries and business practices and is available to students who complete a Level 1 certificate.

AAS in Agribusiness Management, a 60-credit-hour degree, will offer primarily online coursework along with hands-on practicum and workplace experience. Students can customize their studies through focus areas such as Plant and Pest Management, Viticulture and Enology, Livestock Production, Equine Studies, and Agribusiness, with additional areas like agricultural mechanics planned for the future.
