Sherman, Texas -- Gracyn Shindler slammed down 17 kills and Kodi Dorau was also in double digits with 11 kills to help the Dodd City Lady Hornets open the 2026 season with a 3-1 win over Texoma Christian Academy (TCA).

Dodd City took the opener, 25-20, but TCA returned the favor with a 25-20 victory in the second set. 

The Lady Hornets overpowered TCA in the third set, 25-11, and clinched the season-opening win with a 25-17 victory in the fourth set.

In addition to impressive performances by Shindler and Dorau, Emma Garner put down seven kills, while Kayleigh McBrayer, Caroline Lackey and Kendyl Lindsey finished with two kills apiece.

Adisen White handed out 19 assists and McBrayer had 11 assists. 

Shindler had a team-high 16 digs, Kennedy Chaney came up with 11 digs and McBrayer got under nine digs.

Dorau led Dodd City at the service line with seven aces.

Lackey had a pair of blocks.

The Dodd City Lady Hornets are entering the 2026 season ranked No. 4 in Class A.

Dodd City will travel to Sulphur Bluff on Thursday, August 13 before returning home to host Detroit on Friday, August 14 for a 4:30 p.m. match.
