Bonham, Texas -- Almost a thousand local schoolchildren will start the new school year with all the supplies they need, thanks to the staff at Fannin County Children's Center and thoughtful volunteers who pitched in to help.

A total of 917 backpacks filled with school supplies were provided this year, including 850 backpacks that were handed out at Fannin County Children's Center's annual School Supply Drive on August 1.

Months of planning and work go into this major fundraiser that benefits children in Fannin County and a new event contributed mightily. The inaugural School Supply Crawl benefiting Fannin County Children's Center was a success and it looks like a late-summer tradition has been born! Hosted by Credit Union of Texas, more than two dozen Jeeps and 4x4's were featured. Attendees were encouraged to donate new school supplies to help children served by the Fannin County Children’s Center (CASA/CAC) prepare for the 2026-27 school year.

After all the donations were assembled, 30 volunteers spent two evenings helping the staff at the Children's Center fill backpacks with school supplies.

Go ahead and make a note of when this will happen next year. The Fannin County Children's Center's School Supply Drive is set for July 31, 2027.
