Bonham, Texas -- Melvin Stephen McBride was born January 20, 1943, in Denton, Texas and passed at the age of 83 on August 10, 2026. His parents were Melvin “Cotton” McBride and Billie Pauline Sparks. Steve passed away at his home in Bonham, Texas.

Steve was a lifelong bowler having been a member of the Professional Bowlers Association for 40+ years. He was elected to several bowling Hall of Fame organizations with the last being the Texas State Hall of Fame. Over his career he bowled 100+ perfect 300 games and numerous 800 series. He was always supportive and willing to share his knowledge with new and upcoming young bowlers.

Cindy’s favorite story she heard from various bowlers was how he would show up at a bowling alley with his shoes over his shoulder, carrying 1 ball and asking if anyone wanted to bowl pot games. There was always a story from every bowling old-timer she met.

Survived by his wife of 44 years Cindy Gaston McBride, mother-in-law Barbara Gaston, three children: daughter Marilyn Redwine (husband Greg Redwine), sons Lance
