Detroit, Texas -- The Ector Lady Eagles put together an impressive showing at the Detroit Volleyball Tournament, battling their way through the court and bringing home the Tournament Runner-Up title after advancing to Saturday’s Gold Bracket Championship.

Ector opened tournament play Thursday with a strong performance against Clarksville, earning a straight-set victory, 25-15 and 25-20. The Lady Eagles carried that momentum into their next match against Sam Rayburn, dominating the first set 25-8 before closing out the match with a 25-20 win in the second set.

The Lady Eagles then defeated Miller Grove in two sets to finish Thursday’s pool play undefeated and earn their spot in the Gold Bracket on Saturday.

Ector returned to action Saturday and faced TCA with a trip to the championship match on the line. The Lady Eagles came through in two competitive sets, defeating TCA 25-21 and 25-22 to advance to the tournament championship.

In the title match, Ector faced tournament host Detroit. The Lady Eagles battled but ultimately fell to Detroit in two sets, finishing an outstanding tournament run as the Detroit Tournament Runner-Up.

Several Lady Eagles turned in strong all-around performances throughout the tournament.

Adalynn Dederick led a balanced Ector attack with 33 kills while also recording 16 aces, 37 assists and 31 digs.

Alana Mackey contributed 28 kills, 27 assists, 28 digs and three aces, while Aleea Wheeler finished the tournament with 16 kills, 14 digs and three aces.

Ella Laymance recorded 13 kills, 11 assists and 25 digs, and Audrey Arie helped anchor the Lady Eagles defensively with 34 digs, while adding five assists, one ace and one kill.

Odette Cruz contributed seven kills and nine digs, while Ainsley Greathouse recorded five aces and 15 digs. Leah Gnerlich added two kills and one dig.

The Lady Eagles’ tournament performance showcased contributions throughout the lineup as they continued to build early-season momentum. After going undefeated Thursday, advancing through the Gold Bracket and earning a spot in the championship match, Ector left Detroit with a strong runner-up finish and valuable experience for the season ahead.
