Denison, Texas -- History comes to life this fall at Frontier Village & Museum with a unique opportunity to experience 19th-century artillery up close.
Participants in the Frontier Village Cannon Crew program will learn about building a black charge, cannon firing safety and procedures, and the important roles performed by members of an artillery crew. Guided by experienced volunteers, the program offers a hands-on look at how this type of historic artillery piece was operated and used.
The experience will conclude as we fire the cannon in the Village, giving participants the chance to see and hear and fire the cannon. It’s an rare and unique way to connect with history beyond books and exhibits and to gain a better understanding of the equipment and teamwork involved in historic artillery.
Whether you’re a history enthusiast, have an interest in historic weaponry, or are simply looking for a memorable hands-on experience, the Frontier Village Cannon Crew offers an opportunity to experience history in an entirely different way.
Space may be limited, so advance registration is encouraged.
