Telephone, Texas -- C.W. Sangster, 86, of Telephone, Texas, passed away on August 19, 2026. He was born on July 19, 1940, in Lamasco, Texas, and graduated from North Fannin High School in 1959, where he played basketball.

After graduating high school, C.W. and his wife, Carolyn, moved to the Dallas area, where they built their life together and raised their two children, Danny and Michele. C.W. began his working career at Practical Drawing Company before spending 38 years at Varel Manufacturing.

After retiring, C.W. and Carolyn returned to Telephone, where he enjoyed life on the ranch and ran Sangster Land & Cattle. He loved the simple pleasures of ranch life—sitting in the pasture with his cows, relaxing on the patio, and spending time with his family.

C.W. loved his children and grandchildren deeply and was especially proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. His grandchildren include a teacher, a technology professional, a manager, and two granddaughters who earned doctoral degrees—one becoming a physician and the other earning a Ph.D. C.W. loved spending time with his family and making memories together. He enjoyed road trips and family vacations, especially trips to the beach, where he loved watching the waves and the shrimp boats go by. He especially enjoyed taking his family and grandchildren fishing on the ponds at the ranch and teaching some of his grandchildren how to drive.

He loved his dogs, a good seafood dinner, a good steak, and old-school country music, especially Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Sr. and Jr., Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Buck Owens.

C.W. loved telling stories about the past. You might have heard the same story 30 times, but C.W. didn't care —and he certainly wasn't tired of telling it. Those stories were a part of him, and they will be some of the memories his family treasures most.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Becky Sangster, and his brothers, Dallas Sangster and Bill Sangster.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Carolyn Sangster; son, Danny Sangster and wife Cindy of Allen; daughter, Michele Hierholzer and husband Scott of Heath; grandchildren Candice Watt and husband Jacob, Tyler Sangster, Ashton Wheeler and husband Jordan, Rachel Garza and husband Derek, and Bailey Jones and husband Chris; great-grandchildren Brandon, Christian, Jaiden, Felicity, and Avery; sister, Nouwana Beasley; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no traditional funeral service. Family and friends are invited to join us for a casual Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Telephone Community Center.
