Fannin County, Texas -- Tracy Hass, 59, of Trenton, Texas, was sentenced to 25 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division in a guilty plea to the offense of Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle on August 26, 2026. Judge Christina Tillett of the 336th District Court, presided over the plea.
On October 3, 2025, Trenton Police while on routine patrol observed a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle believed to be involved in a burglary the previous week. Subsequently, when the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver fled and began a high-speed pursuit down County Roads 4901 and 4900 before driving through a property.
Persons at that location identified the driver as Tracy Hass. A records check showed an active warrant for his arrest out of Grayson County. The following day Fannin County Deputies located Hass at a residence in Trenton and attempted to arrest him. Hass fled out the back on foot but was captured and taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle and surrounding area revealed tools and equipment which were related to various suspected burglaries that had plagued the community for a term of months. Many of these items were able to be returned to their owners. Cases related to these items are still under investigation by law enforcement in Fannin and Grayson and Cooke counties.
“The outstanding work done by law enforcement helped make this a strong case. The District Attorney’s office believes that enhancing this defendant – given his lengthy criminal history – was appropriate and this multidecade sentence will prevent this known thief from stealing from folks in our County for decades,” said First Assistant District Attorney Nathan Young, who prosecuted the case.
