Bonham, Texas -- Frances Elaine Holt Dodson, 77, passed away on August 6, 2026, with her daughter lovingly by her side.

Frances was born on May 25, 1949, in Bonham, Texas, to Robert Eugene Holt and Betty Bell Brown. On April 24, 1965, she married James Harvey Dodson. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and many cherished memories until his passing on January 5, 2021.

Frances spent her career as a truck driver, traveling countless miles on long-haul transport. Her years on the road reflected her hardworking and independent spirit. When she wasn't traveling, Frances enjoyed the quieter things in life. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook who loved preparing meals for those she cared about.

Above all, Frances had a generous and welcoming heart. Throughout her children's school years, their friends knew they could always find a place in her home and at her table. She became a second mom to many, offering love, guidance, and a good home-cooked meal whenever it was needed. Her greatest joy came from her family and the time she shared with those she loved.

Frances is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Harvey Dodson; parents, Robert Eugene Holt and Betty Bell Brown; brother, Robert Holt; sister, Patricia Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Morris and husband David Riley of Honey Grove, Texas; grandson, Christopher Orr; granddaughters, Kenzie Norris Riley and Kimberly Delgado and husband Benito; and great-grandchildren, Lexi Delgado, Blake Delgado, Clay Delgado, James Travis Orr, Abby Guzman, Bailey Guzman, Kenzie Delgado, Lucas Delgado, and Clay Delgado; along with extended family and many friends who loved her dearly.

A Celebration of Life honoring James and Frances Dodson will be held at Coffee Mill Lake on October 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather for a picnic in their memory and are encouraged to bring their favorite covered dish to share.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Honey Grove, Texas.
