Honey Grove, Texas -- Ruby Mae Daniels, 90, of Honey Grove, Texas, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at her home in Honey Grove, surrounded by the comfort and love of family. She will be lovingly remembered for her gentle spirit, warm heart, and the love she so freely gave to those around her. Her life was a beautiful testament to the importance of family, hard work, and creating a home where everyone felt welcomed and loved.

Ruby Mae was born in Dial, Texas, on November 9, 1935, to L.C. Finney and Lowney V. Scott Finney. On September 17, 1962, she was united in marriage to J.W. Daniels Sr. in Honey Grove. Ruby Mae was a dedicated and hardworking woman who worked as a housekeeper at Baylor University Medical Center and the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas, Texas. After retiring, she devoted much of her time and love to her family, babysitting a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren at her home in Honey Grove. Her home became a place filled with love, laughter, memories, and the joyful sounds of generations of her family.

Ruby Mae had a special love for reading cookbooks and spending time in the kitchen preparing meals for the people she loved. She took great pride in her cooking and was best known for her delicious fried chicken, a favorite that will surely be remembered and missed by her family. For Ruby Mae, some of life's greatest joys were found in the simple moments spent together with family.

Survivors include her sons: J. W. (Melanie) Daniels, Jr., of Honey Grove and Claude (Lisa) Finney of Roxton; her four daughters: Christine Daniels (Cleotis) of Paris, Beverly Hayes of Honey Grove, Theresa (Willie) Shaw of Honey Grove and Valirie Lewis of Dallas; her brother: X.L. Finney of Dallas, Texas; her sisters: Daisy Finney, Grace Sampson and Mary Finney, all of Honey Grove, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; three brothers, Edward Finney, Frank Finney, and Billy Finney; her sister, Minnie Lee Briggs; granddaughter, Lakisha Finney; great-great grandson Amoz Dodd and sons-in-law, Marcus Denson, Willie D. Lewis, and Kerwin Hayes.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Christian Chapel C.M.E. Church in Honey Grove, Texas, with Rev. Darrell Franklin Sr. officiating and Rev. Shawn Bronson eulogist.

Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Honey Grove.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Denson, Anthony Daniels, Kerwin Hayes, Jr, Dennis Finney, Willie Lamont Lewis, Willie Dee Lewis, Jr, and Shannon Finney.

Honorary pallbearers are J. W. Daniels, Jr., Claude Finney, and a host of grandsons.
