Bonham, Texas -- Ann Simmons Gordon, 85, of Bonham, Texas, passed away on September 16, 2026. She was born on August 1, 1941, and lived a life filled with music, service, and a deep love for her family and animals.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Fite and husband Terry of Bonham; granddaughters, Heather Williams of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Cassidy Fite of Sherman, Texas, and Jordan Fite of Grand Bay, Alabama; great-granddaughter, Persephone Shaw; and siblings, John Wilson and wife Shirley, Steve Simmons and wife Cindy, Kathy Lair and husband Bill, Celia Reeder and husband Bob, and Kameil Hopkins and husband David.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Wilson; father, Archie Simmons, Jr.; and stepfather, Joe Wilson.

During her husband’s military service in Germany, Ann sang with The East Village Band. She later enjoyed a career with AT&T, where she worked until her retirement. Ann also volunteered during the Atlanta Olympic Games and spent many years driving a school bus.

Ann had a special love for animals, especially dogs. Over the years, she fostered countless dogs and supported Barkville Dog Rescue, an organization close to her heart. She also loved her Dr Pepper, and even in her final days, she still insisted on having her favorite drink.

A memorial service honoring Ann’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

In honor of Ann’s joyful spirit and her love of bright colors, guests are invited to wear bright colors, especially pink, her favorite.
