Topic: School Days on the Texas Frontier
Presented by: Heather Boykin
Denison, Texas -- Step back in time and discover what school was like on the Texas frontier! At our upcoming Grayson County Historical Society meeting, explore the lessons, routines, and challenges of early frontier students. Hear how small schools helped shape growing communities across Texas. Members and guests are welcome to join this fascinating look at local history. Come curious and ready for a memorable evening of School Days on the Texas Frontier!
Our Presenter this evening is Heather Boykin. Heather has dabbled in women's and children's social history and 19th century material culture for over 25 years.  In that time she has made a study of daily life including textile arts, historic dress, homemaking, and early education.  She served as curator at Chestnut Square Historic Village in McKinney for three years and camp director for Prairie Adventure Camp for nine.

Heather has served on the board of directors for Grayson County Frontier Village and the C.S. Roberts House in Sherman.  She currently teaches K-5 Gifted and Enrichment students and her hobbies include quilting, dressmaking, historic preservation, writing, and she is a strong children's literacy advocate.
We want to welcome the newest members of our society and hope they enjoy sharing in our monthly get-togethers.
We always meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 in the evening at Frontier Village and Museum at Loy Lake Park in the Judge R.C. Vaughan Community Room. The park is located midway between Sherman and Denison off Highway 75, Exit 67.
Our meetings are open to members and their guests, and everyone is welcome to come and take part.
After the program, we enjoy socializing and refreshments generously provided by our members.
