Sherman, Texas -- Choice “Chuck” Randall Melugin, Jr., was born in Sherman, Texas, June 14, 1942, to Dorothy and “B.Q” Melugin. He graduated from Savoy High School in 1960, joining the Army and serving 3 years in Germany. He married the love of his life, Carol Lee Miller, July 15, 1961. Together they had two children, Bryan and Shari. He received an Associate’s Degree in Business, retiring from Southwestern Bell after a 30-year career.

Choice was a published poet and songwriter. He was a musician, playing guitar and bass and performing in several local bands.

He was quick to offer visitors an “ice cold RC,” loved a DQ Beltbuster, and could put away a gallon of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream. He enjoyed a good joke, a good debate, and a good game of chess.

Choice was preceded in death by his mother, father, and daughter, Shari Ford. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol, his son, Bryan Melugin, and his brother, Thomas Melugin, grandchildren, Saydi Atnip, Maci Legg, Trevor Melugin, Morgan Maloy, and Kailen Ford and great-grandchildren Anslee, Scarlett, Lydia, Anson, Remy, Margo, and Flora.

A fiercely devoted husband, he never left Carol’s side for the last 5 years. He helped care for her until his last breath.
