Sherman, Texas -- Edward J. Szafranski Jr. was born in Buffalo, New York on September 25, 1936. He was the son of Edward and Otillia Szafranski. He graduated from St. Stanislaus Grammar School and Bishop Ryan High School in Buffalo, New York.  Edward retired from the Air Force after twenty years of service. He was also a Vietnam veteran.

His parents Edward, Otillia Szafranski, sister Benedictine Monczynski, brother-in-law Victor, and sister Rose Marie Szczerbiak, and brother-in-law John preceded him in death, as well as two nephews, Victor Monterey and Ronald Szczerbiak.

He is survived by three nieces Camille and husband and Paul Bratek, Michele Stater (late husband, Steve), Joyce Elliott and husband Bob.

He has six great nieces, three great nephews, and three great great nephews.

Edward was an honorary life member of Knights of Columbus Council 1289 and an honorary life member and past faithful navigator of Deeny McCullough Assembly 1601 for 1992-1993.

He was an active Sacrosanct for twenty years at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

A Rosary will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sherman at 9:15 a.m., Monday, April 29. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 29 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Steve Antes Officiating. Interment will follow with full military honor guard at Cedarlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul at St. Mary's Catholic Parish.
