Sherman, Texas -- Jo Vessels Miller, of Sherman, TX, passed from this life July 15, 2024 at Wilson N Jones Hospital. She was born September 15, 1943, in Southmayd, TX, to Carl Henry and Hazel Lee (Hughes) Vessels. She was one of 5 children. She graduated from S & S Consolidated High School in 1962.

On July 14, 1962, she married John Alden Miller in Southmayd. They were married for 43 years, until John’s passing in 2006.

During Jo’s career she had worked at Tappan’s Jewelers, Vessels Landscaping, and Grayson State Bank (later American Bank) where she retired as a Bank Officer.

She was a member of Southmayd Baptist Church.

Jo was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed her teams, the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and Dallas Cowboys.

Family was the most important thing to Jo, and she
loved spending time and taking trips with her husband, children and grandchildren. She could be found occasionally enjoying the slot machines at the casino.

Preceding Jo in death are her husband, John A. Miller, parents Carl Henry and Hazel Lee Vessels, brothers, Eddie Vessels and Wayne Vessels.

She is survived by her two daughters; Lisa Miller of Sherman, Terri Roby and husband Steve of Pottsboro, son; Jeffery Miller and husband, Thomas Sisneros of Rogers, Arkansas, sister; Sue Vessels of Sherman, brother; Bill Vessels and wife Kay of Pottsboro, sister-in-law; Linda Vessels of Sherman, three grandchildren; Jared Roby, Jordan Roby and Jacob Roby, and many nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are her very special friends, Dana and Randy Bath of Gillette, Wyoming, along with their children Tiffani and Toni, whom she considered as her own grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Waldo Funeral Home, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 18.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 19, in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be John Breeze of Joshua’s Crossing.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Vessels, Allen Jones, Greg Vessels, Sean Miller, Charlie Bateman and Randy Bath.

The burial will be at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.
