Bonham, Texas -- It was a rumbling review of military-vehicle history and a special treat for many veterans in Bonham when the Military Vehicle Preservation Association HA Jefferson Highway 2024 Convoy passed through Bonham on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
The convoy of approximately 30 historic military vehicles stopped for lunch at the Roy Floyd Community Center, which was originally dedicated on March 15, 1964 as the Sam Rayburn Memorial Armory.
Following the lunch break, the convoy paraded past the Clyde Cosper Texas State Veterans Home and through the sprawling Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center before traveling to Greenville, Texas.
The convoy of historic military vehicles is retracing the historic 1918 route from the Minnesota-Canadian border to New Orleans, LA, a distance of 2,500 miles, traveling through Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana.
The Military Vehicle Preservation Association is an international organization dedicated to the military vehicle preservationists who keep this chapter of history rolling down the road.
