“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that everyone who believes in him shall not parish but have eternal life.”  John 3:16

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”  Psalm 73:26

Sherman, Texas -- Bobby Lynn Cooke, “Grandpa/P-Bob/Bob,” born in Bradshaw, Texas, April 27, 1939, to William Pinkney “Dub” Cooke, Jr. and Violet Ruth (Badgett) Cooke.  Bob went to be with the Lord on October 18, 2024, peacefully, with his family by his side at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

Bob grew up in West Texas and New Mexico.  He graduated in 1957 from Lovington High School in New Mexico.  He then attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, where he met and married his wife of 61 years Patsy Lorene Cooke of Texarkana, Arkansas.  While raising four children, he worked in various roles within the property and casualty insurance industry.

Upon retirement, P-Bob loved spending time with his eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  He and Patsy would be in the bleachers to root the grandkids on in all of their sports endeavors.  As an avid hobbyist, he was passionate about airplanes, trains, and cars, from model toys up to experimental aircraft that he personally piloted.

As a “golden gloves” boxer in his 30s, he made exercise his lifestyle, spending time doing “one-armed” pushups at his local gym well into his 80s.  His witty humor and numerous nicknames for all of his friends and loved ones will always be cherished.  We can’t wait to see him in Heaven!

He is survived by his sister, Pat Thomas, and husband, Dean Thomas, of Big Spring, Texas; children, Jeff Cooke and wife Theresa of Savoy, Texas, Katie Breeding and husband Tim of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Quay Cooke and wife Kristi of McKinney, Texas, and Chad Cooke and wife Angel Hartline of Sherman, Texas; his grandchildren, Nicholas Cooke, Kelsey Ayers, Whitney Wilson, Nolan Cooke, Mason Cooke, Cayden Cooke, and Norah Cooke; his great grandchildren, Paxton & Tristan Breeding, Oliver & Piper Ayers, Everlee & Emersyn Wilson, and Elliot Cooke.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy (Briggs) Cooke; parents, William Pinkney “Dub” Cooke, Jr. and Violet Ruth (Badgett) Cooke; brother, Lanny Cooke and sister, June Clements; grandson, Drew Breeding and firstborn child, Pinkney Cooke.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 24, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., led by Pastor Zach Ayres.  Please sign the online guestbook and leave notes or memories of Bobby at www.waldofuneralhome.com.
