Sherman Symphony Orchestra to perform fall concert Oct. 26

Sherman, Texas -- The Sherman Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will perform a concert on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. in Kidd-Key Auditorium, 400 Elm Street, Sherman, Texas.

 

The concert will feature work by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, French composer Maurice Ravel, and William Grant Still. This will be the opening concert of the SSO’s 59th season, sponsored by the Law Office of John Kermit Hill. “We are looking forward to a great concert,” said Leslie Whelan, Adjunct Instructor in Applied Music at Austin College and SSO’s Education Director.

The Sherman Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1966 by Austin College Professor of Music, Cecil Isaac, and performs several concerts throughout the year including the annual Christmas Pops show in December. Austin College Professor of Music and Music Department Chair, Dan Dominick, is the Sherman Symphony Orchestra’s director and conductor, taking up the baton in 1992.
