Melissa Police Department apprehends wanted suspect following multi-jurisdiction pursuit

Melissa, Texas -- On November 2, 2024, the Melissa Police Department apprehended Jose Rodriguez, a suspect wanted on multiple charges, after a vehicle pursuit that spanned multiple jurisdictions.

The pursuit began when a vehicle associated with Rodriguez was detected on Fannin Road in Melissa, with assistance from License Plate Reader technology (Flock Camera) recently installed by Melissa PD. Officers from both Melissa PD and Celina PD initiated efforts to intercept the vehicle, leading to a chase involving multiple agencies.

During the pursuit, Rodriguez attempted to evade capture, throwing cash from his vehicle and making video calls. The chase crossed into Oklahoma but resumed in Texas after Oklahoma officers discontinued their pursuit. Ultimately, authorities from Grayson County and Collin
County stopped the vehicle using spike strips, leading to Rodriguez’s capture.

Cash and alleged stolen property were recovered from the vehicle. The Melissa Police Department appreciates the assistance of alert citizens who witnessed the evidence and promptly notified the department. Rodriguez was arrested on multiple warrants and will face numerous charges from this incident.
