November 11th is proclaimed a federal holiday in the United States for we will be honoring all military veterans. It was originally known as Armistice Day established to commemorate the end of World War I by President Woodrow Wilson in 1919. In 1938, it became a legal holiday, and in 1954, the name was changed to Veterans Day at the request of major U.S. veteran organizations.
The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held at Arlington National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns.
