Telephone, Texas -- John William Phillips, 64, of Telephone, Texas, peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on Friday Nov. 22, 2024, at his residence, with his beloved family by his side.

John was born to William and Nellene (Richie) Phillips on October 11, 1960 in Bonham. John lived all his life in Telephone, and attended school at Sam Rayburn ISD.

John loved his church family at Telephone Baptist Church, and especially enjoyed the singing. Music was a big part of John’s life, with his favorite being country music.

John loved his family and brought much joy to their lives. John was a blessing to many, and many were blessed by knowing and loving John.

John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nellene Phillips, and his brother Gary Lynn Phillips.

John is survived by his sister Billie McCraw and husband Jack of Telephone, brother Jimmy G. Phillips and wife Sue of Arlington, TX., nieces Liz Morris and husband Roger of Telephone, Jackie Sue Bevill and husband Jeff of Weatherford, TX., nephew Mitch McCraw and wife Lori of the Woodlands, TX., 8 great nieces and nephews, 13 great great nieces and nephews, and cousin Ruth Ann Hurst and husband Bill of Telephone.

Funeral services for John will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the Telephone Baptist Church in Telephone, with Pastor Jase Waller and Pastor Don Gallatin officiating. Visitation will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to funeral service. Interment will follow at the Forest Grove Cemetery in Telephone.

Serving as pallbearers will be John’s family, Taylor Morris, Will Morris, Roger Morris, Jeff Bevill, Mitch McCraw, and Bill Hurst.
