Lamasco, Texas -- Mark Douglas May, 61, of Lamasco, TX, passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2024 at TMC in Denison. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.
Mark was born the middle child to Billy J. and Dorothy Lavonne Crawley May at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX on December 2, 1962. Mark graduated from Prairiland High School in Pattonville, TX in 1981. He then went on to attend Paris Junior College and later Grayson County College, where he completed a 1,000-hour auto body repair program.
Mark followed in his father's footsteps with a passion for old cars and, along with his older brother Joseph, spent countless hours beside their dad working on various cars ranging from Model A's to 1950-1960 model Chevys and Lincoln Continentals, to name a few. Mark had most recently restored a 1979 Ford F-100 that looked amazing. Mark loved to read and was a Mark Martin NASCAR fan and was surprised in 2015 by Joseph and their sister, Lisa, with a trip to Texas Motor Speedway to watch a race firsthand.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Billy J. May in 1979 and Dorothy Lavonne Crawley May in 2015. He is also preceded by his grandparents, Fred and Sam Ella May, Charlie and Lorene Crawley, uncles, Charles Kavanaugh, William (Bill) Crawley, aunt, Patricia Crawley Bruner, and cousin Eric Kavanaugh, all of Fannin County.
Those left to cherish his memory, brother, Joseph Lynn May, sister, Lisa May Blassingame (Bob), nephew, Alan May (Traci), niece, Jessica Cummings (Nick), cousins, Justin Crawley, Jared Crawley, Sherry Minnick, Rhonda Kavanaugh, Karen Williams (Jerry), aunts, Chris Crawley, Shirley Kavanaugh, great-nephew, Wyatt Gardner, and great nieces, Jordin Gardner, and Aubrey Cummings.
A graveside service for Mark will be Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., Lamasco Cemetery with Mark Posey officiating.
