Bonham, Texas -- Mildred Marie (Glenn) Welch, the only child of Guy and Amy B. (Strawn) Glenn was born March 4, 1929 near Anson, Texas. Mrs. Welch passed away November 26, 2024, at Wesley House in Bonham, TX.
Services for Mildred Welch will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, TX, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held an hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Willow Wild Cemetery. Pastor Julie Henson will preside.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Welch, Cody Miller, Rance Miller, and Josh Easley.
Mildred graduated from Snyder High School and went on to attend McMurray University in Abilene, TX where she was a music major. She married the love of her life Joe Frank Welch on July 31, 1948 in Snyder, TX. Mildred and Joe had two children, Linda and Ronny Welch. The couple moved to Bonham in 1959 where Joe was a rancher and accountant, while Mildred worked for Fannin County Electric Coop as well as being the manager of the Bonham Chamber of Commerce.
Mildred was very active in her community and was named the Citizen of the Year in 1987. She was the past chairman of Fannin Historical Commission, chairman of the Heritage Committee for the Bicentennial of 1976 that built the replica of Fort Inglish and was on the Fort Inglish Board of Directors from 1976-2006. Mildred was also chairman of the Bonham Tourism Committee.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bonham since 1959. During her time there, she and Joe helped form and sponsored the Crusaders Sunday School Class and she was a member of the Chancel choir as a soprano soloist.
Mrs. Welch is preceded in death by her husband Joe Welch, daughter Linda Welch Miller, and parents Guy and Amy Glenn.
Mildred is survived by her son Ronny Welch and wife Freida, stepson Jackson Welch and wife Donna, grandchildren; Chad Welch and wife Gyn, Rance Miller, Cody Miller, Heather Welch, Jade Welch Mosley and husband Jeffery, great-grandchildren, Lily Easley and husband Josh, Olivia Welch, Emilia Welch, and Cy Cochran, as well as great-great-granddaughter Murphy.
