Bonham, Texas -- Carolyn "Connie" McDonald passed away surrounded by her family on November 29, 2024, after a two-year-long battle with cancer.

Born December 23, 1944 to Homer Willis and Ruth Mignon Campbell in Bonham, Texas, Connie was the eighth born of their 10 children.

Connie attended the University of Texas at Austin two years, then finished and received her bachelor of arts and master's degrees from Texas A&M University-Commerce. She was a teacher at BISD twenty-three years, serving her last ten years as Head Start Principal/Director.

Connie had a joy for life.  You could always find her on a fall Saturday, watching her beloved Texas Longhorns.  She loved trying new recipes and cooking for all her loved ones.  She enjoyed travelling all over and trying new things. But she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She loved going to watch anything that they were involved in, visiting them whenever she could, having them spend summer days with her, and having birthday shopping sprees. She was their number one fan in everything they did and when she looked at them, you could see and feel the deep love she had for each of them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Claude Willis, Carl Thomas, Billy Joe, Harold Lee and Gary Lynn.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Mike McDonald; son, David and wife Kristin and their children Alain and Miles of Round Rock, TX; son, Thomas and wife Jill and their children Max, Hadlee and Hazel of Shiner, TX; brother, Ray Campbell and wife Gloria of Bonham; brother, Don Campbell and wife Beverly of Dallas; sister, Ruth Ann Thomas of Bonham; brother, James Michael Campbell of Sherman; sister-in-law Shirley Campbell of Dallas; sister-in-law Ursula Campbell of Sulphur Springs; numerous nieces and nephews and beloved friends.

A celebration of life will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church, 801 Star Street in Bonham, TX 75418. Bro. Mark Posey will preside.
