  • Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that a series of overnight closures are slated this week at the intersection of US 75 and US 82 in Sherman, Texas.
  • The City of Bonham is excited to kick off the 2024 summer season at Lake Bonham. Please note that we have a new gate at the entrance of the Lake Recreation Area. The gate OPENS at 5:00 a.m. and CLOSES at 10:00 p.m. Only guests staying on the grounds in a reserved campsite will have gate access to come and go between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

  • The Grayson County Historical Society's speaker for May 14 is a highly decorated Navy Flag Officer Rear Admiral William Retz of Denison, Texas. His program is "Reflections from the River" in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. As a young officer, Admiral Retz served with the river patrol forces in Vietnam, the "Brown Water Navy" in the rivers and jungles during the most intense portion known as the "Tet" Offensive. He was seriously wounded during that time and was eventually evacuated to the US for further hospitalization and to recover from his wounds before continuing his career.
  • The Sherman Public Library is excited to host Red River Historian Robin Cole-Jett for an in-depth presentation, Traveling History with Bonnie and Clyde, on Tuesday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. The infamous bandit couple, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, had a third constant companion in their gang: North Texas. By following their exploits, this informative and historical presentation will highlight many of the places of the gangster era that can still be visited. By the end of the talk, you will be able to design your own road trip to the places where crime and passion collided!
