Lifesaving Award for Professional Responders
is the highest award given for saving a life
McKinney, Texas — The American Red Cross presented four Parks and Recreation employees with the Lifesaving Award for First Responders for their life-saving efforts at the Senior Recreation Center at a ceremony today. These awards were presented to Aquatics Supervisor Griffin White, Aquatics Coordinator Cianna Alliot, and pool managers Savanah Chavarria and Jaden Dawes.
The Lifesaving Award for Professional Responders is the highest award given by the Red Cross to those who save or sustain a life using skills learned in a Red Cross Training Services course.
On June 27, a long-time center member, Lou Conner, collapsed during an exercise class. Chavarria and Dawes assessed Conner's condition while Alliot and White started CPR and delivered a shock using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). They continued with six rounds of CPR until EMS personnel from the McKinney Fire Department arrived.
