Powerhouse musical trio is tuning up for album release party.

This fine group will feel right at home with guests at Harmony House Concert since they have acquired a following in Texas and Oklahoma.  Lori Rowton, the female vocalist is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, our neighbors across the Oklahoma border. The Close will play two 45-minute sets with a 30-minute intermission for them to meet you at the CD table, have another cuppa java, visit the Necessary Room, or visit with one another.  Harmony House is all about making new friends and connections for performing artists and our guests.

The Close is Shannon Walker, Lori J Rowton and James McKinney.

Make a reservation/s for this spring show by calling 903-583-2661, leaving your name, contact info (preferably, an email address), and number of tickets desired. I (Faye) will contact you ASAP to let you know I got your message and have you on the Reservation List. Reservations are $25 per person. Reservations are payable on the day of the concert at the  Reservation Check-In table in the dining room. You may pay in cash; checks made payable to The Close, LLC, or by Venmo.  Please get in touch with us if you find that you are unable to attend.  No-shows are a NO-NO!!  Seating is limited, so don't procrastinate.  We may have a sold-out show, but we can put you on a waiting list to call if there is a cancellation.  If you do not know how to get to Harmony House, leave that in your message and we'll be sure to give you our physical address or directions.  Reserve seats online here:  RESERVATIONS

Harmony House is located about 10 miles north of Bonham and about 65 miles NE of Dallas metroplex.  We moved a century-old house from Bonham and got to work making it a home.  We (Faye and Scott) left our urban lifestyles to live on 160 acres of natural land, www.WildscapeAcres.comSince we already had discovered the magic of live acoustic music and original singer/songwriters by attending venues in Dallas and going to the Kerrville Folk Festival and the Woody Guthrie Festival in Okemah, OK, we chose to open our home as a venue for these artists to come and widen their fan base and for you to be able to enjoy live music in an intimate setting.

Everything is casual here, and we'll welcome old and new friends with open arms. We've been at it over 20 years now, so we've had a bit of practice.  Each performer who plays here leaves behind an energy and an imprint in the walls that resonates afterward.

Faye and Scott, your hosts, will provide a real cup of organic coffee, organic tea punches sweetened with various juices, and well water with no chemicals added.  We will also provide a variety of cheeses and crackers, along with some other tasty treats.  We do request that each guest bring a finger food to share with others--you can make this as simple as olives to a quiche Lorraine!  We do ask that you bring your own serving dish or tray and take home any leftovers.   There are tables in the dining room and in the master bedroom for you to put your "goodies" on---yes, you read that correctly--we use the entire house for a house concert.  Even the performing artists have their own space in my bedroom/office.  You'd be amazed how many picks we have now.

  • 1513 – Having spotted land on March 27, Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León comes ashore on what is now the U.S. state of Florida, landing somewhere between the modern city of St. Augustine and the mouth of the St. Johns River. Juan Ponce de León (c. 1474 – July 1521) was a Spanish explorer and conquistador known for leading the first official European expedition to Puerto Rico in 1508 and Florida in 1513. He was born in Santervás de Campos, Valladolid, Spain, in 1474. Though little is known about his family, he was of noble birth and served in the Spanish military from a young age. He first came to the Americas as a "gentleman volunteer" with Christopher Columbus's second expedition in 1493. In 1513, Ponce de León led the first known European expedition to La Florida, which he named during his first voyage to the area. He landed somewhere along Florida's east coast, then charted the Atlantic coast down to the Florida Keys and north along the Gulf coast; historian John R. Swanton believed that he sailed perhaps as far as Apalachee Bay on Florida's western coast. Though in popular culture he was supposedly searching for the Fountain of Youth, there is no contemporary evidence to support the story, which most modern historians consider a myth. In March 1521, Ponce de León finally returned to Southwest Florida with the first large-scale attempt to establish a Spanish colony in what is now the continental United States. However, the native Calusa people fiercely resisted the incursion, and Ponce de Léon was seriously wounded in a skirmish. The colonization attempt was abandoned, and he died from his wounds soon after returning to Cuba in early July. He was interred in Puerto Rico; his tomb is located inside the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista in San Juan.
