Edwina was born in Sulphur Springs, TX to Edward and Berta Ballew. From a young age she developed a “sassy attitude”, and this carried with her all the days of her life. In her final months the nurses and care team would refer to Edwina as Miss Sassy.
Following her passion, Edwina embarked on a few different career choices, where she quickly made a name for herself. She spent many years as an accountant, nurse and truck driver. Her granddaughter fondly recalls Edwina being so small in stature yet could gracefully drive those big eighteen wheelers.
Edwina was devoted to her family. Time spent with her grandchildren was her most cherished time. Edwina also enjoyed van life. She was a proud member of the Lone Star Van Club and enjoyed traveling in her van. Edwina will be fondly remembered for her Mickey Mouse collection, crocheting ability, and devotion as a mother.
Edwina’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and resilience. Her life was a shining example of what it means to live with purpose and passion. Friends and family will remember Edwina for her valiant battle against cancer, and strength on display.
There will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
